  • Rana Sanga saw Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, as a foreign invader.
  • Formed a massive Rajput alliance to challenge Babur after he defeated Ibrahim Lodi in the First Battle of Panipat (1526).
  • Battle of Khanwa (March 17, 1527):
    • Babur used gunpowder, artillery, and superior tactics to defeat the Rajput army.
    • This battle established Mughal rule in India.
    • Rana Sanga was wounded but vowed to fight again.

  • After Khanwa, he planned to regroup and fight Babur again but was poisoned by his own nobles who feared another battle.
